What if you wake up one morning and realize that, you are the person that “plays the devil’s advocate”? (aka the arguer)
What if you wake up one morning and you realize that, you are the person that always has a comment and always has to say it?
What if you wake up one morning and you realize that, you are the person that is demanding and unreasonable, hiding behind the “it’s not fair” or “someone’s got to do it” label.
What if you wake up one morning and you realize ALL THAT?
‘Cause the moment you realize something, is the second you can make a decision to choose. You are now aware and experience the situation from a different perspective. It really is that simple.
Most people say and do things without really thinking about them. They are acting out of habit, more than out of thoughtful, mindful planning.
There is a difference between your brain, and it’s chemical compounds and hemispheres and firing synapses and your mind. In matters that you have never taken the time to consider, your brain is in control.
Here’s a challenge. SILENCE
What if, you were literally silent.
What if you nodded your head in understanding, acknowledgement, and said only positive, “let me think about it”, “Good Idea”… and more. AND what if in that silence you really did “think about it”
I find that this theory of silence has opened up more positive activity in my life… I find myself saying “YES” more frequently to my children, as I consider their requests prior to leveling my judgement of Yes or No.
I find myself saying “YES” more frequently to MYSELF, as I consider my abilities, possibilities and purpose.
The silence is key. The silence leads to thinking. The thinking will lead to more measured and mindful decisions.
