The words, “When we feel beauty, we know it as truth” were written by Rabindranath Thakur also known as Rabindranath Tagore.
At first, when I first read this words, I thought, “oh, he must mean, when we feel beautiful, as in when we apply that feeling of beauty to ourselves”. However, the more I thought about it, the more I think that he is talking about so much more.
Perhaps, applying that feeling we feel, when we feel beautiful about ourselves… to external objects, like other people’s smiles, or birds appearing to hover high in the sky on the mid-day thermals, or the small gooey slug tucked under the garden rock.
What do we feel when we wear that new flattering new outfit? We feel attractive, we feel happy, maybe a little more courageous, or outgoing. My point is that we see an image and we EXPERIENCE a feeling.
Now apply that feeling to …. the rain filled stream, or freshly mowed lawn. Experience the feeling of the beauty of your garden or butterflies or the neighbors cat slinking home after a night out.
It’s the “feeling” of beauty that is my point.
If you can feel beauty… than you can feel other untouchable things, like values, integrity, honesty……truth.
Deepak Chopra says, that “when values disintegrate everything disintegrates. Health disintegrates, poverty attains dominance over affluence, societies and civilizations crumble. When we pay attention to these values that society has always held sacred, then order emerges out of chaos…”
I’ve talked a lot about no-judgment and I’m not suggestion that we turn around and condemn anyone’s actions including our own… I’m simply suggesting we pause…. reflect… and give ourselves time to FEEL beauty.
…allow ourselves these moments to gently work towards filling our days with thankfulness and this fulfilled feeling of being surrounded by … good.
Make today amazing!
